My partner and I have gotten use to Google Photos taking care to tagging and facial recognition automatically. What is lacking is a way to explore the photos (sort, tag, search, etc.). NextCloud backup from Android app to server works great for this. I think it's important to me to keep a regular copy of all the photos somewhere (rather than bundled up in a database where I could loose them if something went wrong). I've recently set up a home server with UNRAID, currently running Plex and NextCloud w/ MariaBD) and am looking for a good photos solution. Before they were finished, I went into cardiac arrest. He was born without a pulse and quickly taken by the NICU team for resuscitation and prompt cooling treatment, the protocol for babies who have been deprived of oxygen during birth. My son, Henry, was delivered within minutes. As the C section began, I was poorly responsive and cyanotic. A quick decision was made to take me for an emergency cesarean. At the same time, my son’s heart rate had dropped to the 60s. I was experiencing respiratory failure, and my oxygen levels were low enough to send me in and out of consciousness. I proceeded to lose consciousness temporarily. At 7:48 am the next morning, I told the nurse and my husband that I was nauseous and felt like I was going to faint. We went to the hospital at 7:30 pm, and I received three doses of a medicine called Cytotec. The situation was worsening by the day, and my husband and I wanted to get in and out of the hospital as quickly as we could given the growing threat of Covid in our state. For those unfamiliar with Covid-19’s progression of events, that was 11 days after Covid-19 was declared a global pandemic, 9 days after it was declared a national emergency, and 2 days after the first stay at home order was issued. Legal Help for Cytotec Drug Injury Victims That said, due to the pervasive contra-indicated use of the drug, reports continued to surface, which included indications of side effects including, but not limited to amniotic fluid embolism, which is the fifth leading cause of maternal death. The original insert to the label of cytotec carried an explicit warning: “DO NOT use Cytotec if: you are allergic to any ingredients in Cytotec or to similar medicines (prostaglandins) you are pregnant ” and, it went on further to state that, patients should “ell their doctor or pharmacist if … you are planning to become pregnant or are breast-feeding.” However, despite such an emphatic initial warning, later uses of cytotec included labor induction. This is because cytotec, unlike other labor inducing drugs, such as oxytocin, affects the patients cervix. Its use in inducing labor, though controversial, is attractive to physicians with patients who have yet to experience dilation of their cervix. When used to induce labor, cytotec functions by forcing the uterus of the patient to contract, while simultaneously causing the cervix of the patient to “ripen” or thin. That process thereby reduces the risk of ulceration. When used to prevent NSAID induced ulcers, cytotec functions by affecting gastric parietal cells, and in doing so, inhibits secretion of gastric acid, which sets in to motion a process that, in effect, reduces activity on the apical surface of those cells. How does Cytotec WorkĬytotec, because it has different uses, works in different ways, depending upon the intended use. Indeed, the use of cytotec in induction of labor (or for missed miscarriage) has been pointed to as the cause of injuries including, uterine rupture, hemorrhaging, exsanguinations, and, even death. Additionally, it is used to induce labor however, its use in this manner is considered controversial at best. Cytotec (misoprostol) is a prescription drug manufactured by Searle, which has many indicated uses, including, to addressing gastric ulcers in patients taking non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (“NSAIDs”). 9/28/2023 0 Comments Agent a agent b ai transcriptAs such, targeting of Tat protein (and/or cellular cofactors) provide an interesting perspective for therapeutic intervention in the HIV replicative cycle and may afford lifetime control of the HIV infection. The Tat‐TAR‐dependent phosphorylation of RNA polymerase II plays an important role in transcriptional elongation as well as in other post‐transcriptional events. The complex of Tat with p‐TEFb then binds the loop structures of TAR RNA thereby positioning CDK9 to phosphorylate the cellular RNA polymerase II. And theres something about the nature of abstraction itself that is. Following chromatin remodeling of the viral promoter region, transcription is initiated and leads to the formation of the TAR element. These transcripts can be shared with other team members and agents for faster onboarding and training them on right. particularly oncoming innovation in artificial intelligence and how that. Upon reactivation of HIV‐1 from latency, HDACs are displaced in response to the recruitment of histone acetyltransferases (HATs) by NF‐κB or the viral transcriptional activator Tat and result in multiple acetylation events. In latently infected resting CD4 + T cells HIV‐1 transcription seems to be repressed by deacetylation events mediated by histone deacetylases (HDACs). The regulation of transcription of the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) is a complex event that requires the cooperative action of both viral and cellular components. 9/28/2023 0 Comments Umich dropboxYou can choose which files to make online-only or let automatic Smart Sync choose for you.Smart Sync is a feature of the Dropbox desktop app that allows you to make files online-only so you can save hard drive space on your computer. This means that the files are ‘online-only.’ You can interact with these files as normal, but they take up no space on your computer. NVIDIA has introduced new path-traced visual effects, has improved texturing, and has made dozens of other changes and improvements, resulting in an experience that rivals games created today, and pushes your RTX hardware to the limit. Quake II RTX builds on the work of Christoph Schied and the team at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, who added ray tracing to Quake II to create Q2VKPT (in turn building upon the Q2PRO code base). Only then will the fate of humanity be known. Now you must fight your way through heavily fortified military installations, lower the city’s defenses and shut down the enemy’s war machine. It does not store any personal data.Shortly after landing on an alien surface, you learn that hundreds of your men have been reduced to just a few. You can install Steam client in your computer, search for Quake II RTX and start playing it right away. Quake II RTX available on Steam includes first three episodes from the original Quake II shareware edition. Most importantly, your GPU must support ray tracing rendering technique. At the minimum, it needs 8GB RAM, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060, intel Core i3 3220, and Windows 7 64-bit. While the original Quake II from 1997 had very minimal system requirements, Quake II RTX needs a really powerful gaming PC. Each level takes you to a different military installation and you have to make your way out while destroying their defenses. In the process, you meet enemy’s fierce force and deadly warriors. You have to enter the enemy’s military installations one-by-one and take down their defenses. Your side has been reduced to only a few by the enemy and now the fate of the surviving human race depends on you. Just like the original Quake II from 1997, it starts with the protagonist landing on an alien planet. Apart from the ray tracing, everything else stays the same – the gameplay, the storyline, the weapons and the characters Now the same game has been reprogrammed to include the support of ray tracing rendering by NVIDIA. Quake II was originally released by id software in 1997 in association with Hyperion and Activision. Ray tracing feature is not available in all the graphics processors (GPU) so you have to first get a ray tracing enabled GPU for your PC and only then you will be able to enjoy the new improved Quake II RTX. Because of the Ray Tracing, it is being called Quake II RTX. It still uses the old graphics, nothing much is changed there – but through the use of ray tracing they appear much better. Using the ray tracing rendering, NVIDIA has made the original Quake II graphics look much better. The cult classic game Quake II is back, but this time with improved graphics. The math simply doesn’t add up and over time that additional weight can start to crush the sheet metal supports beneath the fireplace and overheat combustibles beneath the system.Īlong with this, some inserts that are “approved” for installation into a prefabricated fireplaces want high temp or HT tests be performed and passed by the chimney systems through which they run. A few examples of some common issues are outlined below.įor example, approving the addition of a 300-500 pound insert into a prefabricated unit that should only hold up to 110 pounds of wood doesn’t make sense. In the end, when it comes to installing an insert into a prefabricated system, there are many things that simply don’t add up with and that insert manufacturers aren’t able to provide clear answers for. In this way we can be sure that it meets and exceeds all minimum requirements and continue to put your safety and peace of mind first in all that we do. Here’s what we suggest – rather than install an insert, remove the prefabricated unit altogether, then install a high-efficiency wood or gas fireplace instead. In the end, assuming your insert will be fine just because your fireplace fairs okay isn’t going to be a viable option.Įssentially, because there is so much variety when testing both prefabricated fireplaces and factory-built inserts, it is hard to guarantee combining any two would produce good or safe results unless they were specifically tested together. This means your fireplace and insert go through different testing processes, and just because a certain test was successful with the fireplace doesn’t mean it will be successful with the insert installed. They are currently not inserted into a fireplace as part of any UL test. Stoves and inserts are only tested as freestanding room heaters. The UL tests their prefabricated fireplaces and factory-built inserts separately, and each system must pass a wide range of tests to get approved. Fireplaces & Inserts are Tested With Different StandardsĪnother important factor to keep in mind is just how these units are tested. And many older models won’t even have language regarding inserts in their manuals at all. In the end, most prefabricated or factory-built fireplaces don’t allow inserts to be installed into their systems. They are considered an aftermarket part and may alter the heat signature of the appliance. In general appliances not listed as a part of the original factory built fireplace should not be installed. Currently there is no standardized test to allow this type of installation. Remember – just because a manufacturer says their insert is approved for installation into a factory built fireplace it doesn’t mean it has actually been tested. For more information on the specific codes, standards and potential issues if you are considering this type of an installation please read this document that our owner put together for the task group formed by Underwriters Laboratory (UL) to explore this specific issue.ĭownload: Current Issues with Solid-Fuel Inserts in Factory Built Fireplaces and Chimneys There is often confusion surrounding the codes, standards, listings (tests), and manufacturer instructions as they relate to these types of installations. There are currently no standards from the Underwriters Laboratory (UL) for testing this type of set-up though beginning at the end of 2021 discussions began at the request of a fire investigator from Ohio who has seen hundreds of fires related to inserts in factory built fireplaces over the past several decades. Unfortunately, this isn’t an option either. Many wonder if we could add the insert, then perform new tests to ensure everything is okay. In these cases, the appliance will overheat and any surrounding woodwork or flammable materials could ignite. The addition of a fireplace insert with drastically different heating characteristics can alter these clearances and potentially change the heat signature of the entire appliance and venting system. Test Standards & Clearances Often Get AlteredĮvery prefabricated fireplace has standards and clearances that must be met to ensure the safety of the homeowner. Our CSIA-certified sweeps can guarantee you stay safer and more comfortable while navigating all of your chimney and fireplace-related needs. Count on the team at The Chimney Doctor to help you out every step up of the way. Regardless of the reason, there are a few things you’ll need to keep in mind before moving forward. Or maybe you just want a new style, and this seems like the best route. Adding an insert can also be an option when looking to switch up fuel types. For one, fireplace inserts are known for their heightened efficiency, so more heat and less energy costs may be a goal for some. There are lots of reasons a homeowner might wish to add an insert to their prefabricated fireplace. 9/27/2023 0 Comments Charles yu hsinglingSo, yeah, I think that was the in-pull for me early on - but I think that there are many other uses and values to sci-fi that have evolved over time. I wouldn't have thought of it with the term escapism back then… I mean, I think it is true that at an early age, it certainly was a way of being transported to a different reality, or of gaining a new perspective on this reality. I guess your life as a corporate lawyer required more of an escape than junior high. But I didn't think about sci-fi until years later, after I graduated from law school, actually. It made me feel like there's a world out there that I could be transported to and I go there over and over again. That was my first real encounter with a multi-book series of sci-fi, that helped me gain understanding of a book as not just words on a page. I read his short stories and his Foundation series, which is this epic galactic-scale story in which he constructs a whole society and a whole theory of human behavior and civilization. Well, I definitely remember being in junior high when we started to read Isaac Asimov. When did your interests shift to science fiction? You’re best known for your sci-fi books How to Live Safely in a Science Fictional Universe and Sorry Please Thank You. “Sci-fi was a way of being transported to a different reality, or of gaining a new perspective on this reality.” So I remember feeling, “He's ours.” There was this special attachment to Bruce Lee and to the idea of being a kung fu fighter, and I think that felt like our own thing on some level. And there's such a lack of seeing Asian American role models in American media, especially like Bruce Lee - an action hero and an icon, really. And on the block where we lived I didn't play with any other Asian-American kids. But I think, to your point, there was something special for my brother and I growing up in southern California, where there are other Asian-Americans, but we didn't go to school with many. I remember Nadia Comaneci, it was on the news all the time about how she got perfect 10s and she had broken all these records! Even for an Asian-American kid in LA, she was absolutely world-famous. I grew up in Romania and I remember wanting to be a gymnast like Nadia Comaneci. It’s interesting how culture-specific idols shape our fantasies as kids. He was just too cool and obviously a kind of physical genius in terms of his fighting, grace, and velocity with which he moved. I watched Fist of Fury and Enter The Dragon, and there was something about him that was also not quite human. And somewhere among all this was Bruce Lee. This was probably based on video games where there are these really buff, impossibly good fighters. But there was a phase where I thought I would want to be a kind of hybrid between a video game character and a sort of elite fighter. I loved science and I had this image that I would go on to develop a pill that you could take once a day and you didn't have to eat. The pressure levels of compression stockings are measured in mmHg units of measurement. And because the severity and involvement of circulatory dysfunction varies widely from one individual to another, compression hosiery is designed in alternating strengths to better accommodate these differences. Gradient compression therapy enhances the blood flow to and from extremities, which improves circulation and results in a wealth of benefits for the entire body.Ĭompression therapy also reduces swelling, fatigue, and pain in the limbs. What are the benefits of compression, and how do I know which level is right for me? Due to its strength, it is recommended that you only use this level of compression under a doctor’s supervision. It’s also used following DVT, and for post-thrombotic syndrome (PTS). This compression level is often used to prevent DVT and stasis ulcers, and offers effective relief for swelling and fatigue related to pregnancy, and for postsurgical swelling.ģ0-40 mmHg: This stronger level of gradient support is indicated for severe swelling and pain originating from more severe circulatory diseases and disorders including lymphedema, postural/orthostatic hypotension, venous ulcers, varicose veins, and edema. It mitigates minor swelling, fatigue and pain, and is used for milder circulatory involvement from varicose veins, orthostatic and postural hypotension, post-sclerotherapy, spider veins, pregnancy, and for deep vein thrombosis (DVT) prevention.Ģ0-30 mmHg: This is the most frequently used level of pressure, and is indicated for moderate to severe swelling caused by a host of circulatory issues, including edema, venous insufficiency, varicose veins, lymphedema, post-sclerotherapy, hypotension (postural and orthostatic), and superficial thrombophlebitis. Here is a general breakdown:ġ5-20 mmHg: This lighter level of support is indicated for travel, and for those who sit or stand for extended periods of time. The various gradient compression levels available are designed to treat and/or prevent a host of different circulatory concerns, disorders and disease. Understanding compression levels, features, and product benefits Who needs gradient compression stockings? Lighter, graduated compression (15-20 mmHg) offers gentle support for minor circulatory concerns, such as mild swelling or fatigue, while the stronger compression levels (30-40 mmHg) offer a higher gradient for more severe swelling or pain from serious circulatory disorders, including lymphedema and venous ulcers. This compression action encourages blood to flow more freely which results in less swelling, fatigue, and pain in the legs and feet. The level of gradient pressure varies to more specifically suit different types of circulatory disorders, and is measured in mmHg units of pressure. Gradient compression hosiery provides more pressure or tightness at the ankle, with pressure gradually decreasing as it continues up the calf and leg. Unlike the “support” hose and the dowdy medical “TED” hose of yesteryear, today’s compression hosiery is formulated to offer gradient/graduated compression in attractive, stylish designs. Used by both men and women, compression hosiery reduces swelling and pain in the lower body, and can help treat and prevent a host of circulatory disorders. We’ve organized our picks by discussing the socks offering the firmest compression first and those with looser, more casual fits farther down.Medical-grade compression in modern, stylish designsĬompression stockings are specially fabricated socks, thigh highs, and pantyhose designed to enhance circulation in the legs and feet. Segal’s that are notably easy to pull on and off and socks from Vim & Vigr, a brand that covers nearly every possible foot and calf size (in several fabric options, colors, and patterns). Our picks include a snug-yet-soft merino/bamboo blend from Sockwell a rugged budget option, Go2Socks a stretchy cotton-nylon blend from Comrad that boasts appealing modern styling ultra-comfy socks from Dr. After considering dozens of socks, we’ve tested 18 pairs since 2017, and found five that are comfortably snug (yet still reasonably easy to put on), maintain their elasticity following multiple washes, and come in ample sizes and colors. To find the best compression socks, we consulted folks who wear them for all types of situations: during pregnancy, while working on their feet, for running, after working out, when traveling, and just because. |
